8/26/2023 0 Comments Sengoku astray downloadFor the race portion of the tournament, Nils utilized a replica of the mobile horse Fuunsaiki from the anime Mobile Fighter G Gundam. The Sengoku Astray could also perform a special attack called the Particle Fa Jin that used Plavsky particles to destroy an opponent’s Gunpla from within. The suit’s pair of samurai swords were covered in a special coating that allowed them to cut through beams. Nils customized the Red Frame with his Japanese aesthetic, which extended to the naming of its armaments. Known as the “early genius” for having earned multiple doctorates at a young age, Nils represented America in the 7th Gunpla Battle World Championship as part of his quest to learn the secrets of the Plavsky particle. It was based on the MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame from the 2002-03 manga series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ASTRAY. (6) The undergate design that I first encountered in the MG Sengoku limits the number of exposed nubs to a bare minimum. The 侍ノ弐 Sengoku Astray Gundam was a custom Gunpla built by Nils Nielsen. ![]() (5) The armor design of the MG Sengoku limits the number of seam lines but there is one (very slight) that can be found on the knee area, which can be covered by panel marking. I have yet to find how I can improve the fit. Though it allows a higher range of mobility, the weight of the figure and the multiple poses “loosens” the polycap. (4) The MG Sengoku ankle polycap is subject to wear and tear. Though it stays in better than the V-fin, it falls of at least 2 times out of 5 when playing with the kit. Glue will be needed to keep it in place, it is too heavy for the small peg that attaches it to the forehead. Though I understand that the pegs are designed to temporarily hold the weapons, the fit is too loose and cannot sufficiently support the katanas and (does not hold at all) the shield. (1) Hand pegs cannot hold the katanas and the shield properly. MG Sengoku likewise has excellent articulation on the main joints: shoulders: 120 deg, elbow: 135 deg, wrist: 180 deg, waist: 90 deg, legs: 90 deg, knees: 135 deg, and ankles: 30 deg. The MG Sengoku has an overwhelming 53 points of articulation! Using 3-plane coordinates, articulation points are: neck (xyz), shoulders(xyz), hips (z), waist (x), legs (xyz), knees (y), ankles (xyz), foot (2), arms (xy), wrists (xy), fingers (3), and shoulder armor (xyxyz). Joint motion will be based on the number of points of articulation and the degree of articulation of the main joints (shoulders, elbow, wrist, waist, legs, knees, feet). Though the anime shows that the Sengoku can make Plavsky particle beams by slashing its swords and use Particle Fa Jin attacks, the kit does not include effects to show those attacks. To a casual observer, the MG Sengoku will simply seem like a Samurai-themed Gundam (something which the missus actually thought), which needs to fight an uphill battle against its gun-wielding opponents (and we all know what happened in the Last Samurai, guns overcame the sword in a battlefield). The Kata no Yoroi shoulder armor can be expanded in move with a 5-point articulation, it can also hold the katanas for other awesome poses. The Oni no Tate has the mouth opening gimmick, which looks fearsome, but can be “invisible” as people may prefer it to remain in backpack form. The katanas are chrome-coated, as such nubs are not chrome colored, so be very careful when cutting. ![]() The MG Sengoku is armed only with katanas Gerbera Straight and Tiger Pierce, the Oni no Tate shield/backpack and the Kata no Yoroi shoulder armor. The body for example, consists of black, red, white and gray (though I painted the gray as silver with some reds as gold).įeatures/accessories will be based on the number and quality of gimmicks, equipment and extras included in the kit. ![]() The color separation of this kit is awesome! I was used to HG kits where color separation is achieved through stickers, on this MG kit, it is achieved through the different colored parts. There is a fair amount of decals on this kit, from head to feet, and also on the katanas, the shield and on the Kata Yoroi shoulder armor arms, which contribute to the “real scale” look. I have seen a completed HG Sengoku Astray Gundam, and side by side with the MG, I can say that the figure detail of the MG is better. As an MG, builders should also expect a higher number of panel lines, which though tedious, gives an over-all better look than an HG. The MG Sengoku Astray Gundam kit has a bunch of decals, unlike HGs.
